Smart Factory is awfully an issue recently.

In that sense, Media partner NDNnews (www.ndnnews.co.kr) & its affiliate organization Korea Culture Ambassador Friendship Association organized a smart factory visit trip on March 15th(Friday) so that The Seoul Diplomatic Corps. can more better understand it and further facilitate mutual partnerships such as solar module’s exports to participating diplomats’ countries, to name just a few.

Shinsung E&G(www.shinsungeng.com) located in Yongin, Kyunggi Province is being assessed as a representative smart factory, supervised by MOTIE (Ministry of Technology, Industry & Energy), Republic of Korea.

According to the company, a total of 2,000 visitors visited its Yongin smart factory to see its smart manufacturing facilities at firsthand last year whereas similarily total 1,500-2,000 visitors are expected to visits its factory this year as well.

In a nutshell, as a representative smart factory based on clean energy Shinsung E&G is human-oriented happy workplace, not machinery-oriented. Moreover, as an intelligence-type manufacturing workplace in which ICT technology is combined, it is an energy independent-type manufacturing workplace for the first time at home.

In its briefing session in which over 40 ambassadors, senior diplomats and many commercial attaches were on hand held at its conference room, Executive Managing Director Oh Dong-hun said that its smart factory provides a total solution of customer satisfaction through real time data management.

First off, many ambassadors & senior diplomats paid attention to the fact that Shinsung E&G is human-oriented future-type smart factory. By collecting/analyzing all informations of production activities real time, its smart factory maximizes production efficiency by diagnosing quality as well as production outcome and redistributing resources.

Participating ambassadors & commercial diplomats made their field tours to see its eco-friendly clean room at firsthand, thereby confirming that Shinsung E&G Yongin smart factory provides an eco-friendly cleanrooms in which healthy labour environment and energy decrease technologies were applied.

More importantly, Shinsung E&G Yongin factory operates its smart micro Grid.

First of all on behalf of all visiting Ambassadors & senior diplomats,

I would like to express our deep appreciation for inviting us to this experience to know about your company.

We Ambassadors & diplomats understand that Shinsung E&G is the Best Smart Factory based on new and renewable energy, ICT-based Smart Factory that ensure connectivity and visibility and optimizes operational efficiency on management of data-based systems. In that regard, we came here with great expectations to learn the distinguished experience and career of Shinsung E&G’s Smart Factory at firsthand. Moreover, we know that Shinsung E&G has its Know-how of 40 years to open a new paradigm in clean room industry as well as Solar energy.

Once again, on behalf of all Ambassadors & diplomats here, thank you very much to all executives present here for all the hospitality and we hope to be able to know deeply and learn much about this technology in order to implement it in our countries in the near future. Thank you.

After the luncheon where NDNnews provided it with a Korean-food buffet at the Korean pavilion restaurant, Korea Folks village, visiting ambassodors & senior diplomats looked round Folks Village during one hour.

Korean Folk Village was created with a view to presenting the national culture to local and international tourists by collecting in one place the folk customs in our culture that have been passed down for a long time. According a female tourism interpreter who accompanied diplomats, The Joseon period village in KFV is composed of real houses relocated and reconstructed from different parts of the country, thus enacting the culture in daily life through four seasons based on thorough historical verification and consultation.

KFV has since its foundation in 1974 been loved as a tourist destination that provides vivid cultural experience as well as traditional culture set in beautiful nature. The Korean tradition is the Korean people’s mode of life that has permeated every portion of our contemporary life. The role of KFV consists in renewing the value of our traditional culture and preserving it so that it may shine throughout the world, she said.

The 2nd visit destination for the visiting ambassadors & senior diplomats afternoon was the Nam June Paik Art Center which opened to the public in 2008 and aspires to revive the generosity, criticality and interdisciplinary nature characteristic of both Nam June Paik’s work and life. A guide qurator said that: “To fulfill the artist’s wish building the house where the spirit of Nam June Paik lives on, Nam June Paik Art Center develops creative and critical programs on the artist”.

As their last visit destination, visiting ambassadors & senior diplomats dropped by Pangyo Techno Valley as a global innovation cluster.

Through its presentation held at the conference room Start-up Campus, envoys and senior commercial attaches were able to see that Pangyo is the city optimized for an innovative cluster with its good transportation from Incheon Intl Airport and Gyeongbu Expressway, its edge to be adjacent to abundant labor forces from Seoul as well as to be adjacent to financial district from Teheran street, Seoul Gangnam and to be adjacent to big industrial parks from Ansan, Yongin and Suwon etc.

Pangyo Techno Valley yields KRW 79.3 trillion (USD 7 billion) in revenue as of 2017 at the miracle of 200,000 pyeong (66,000 m2) of Land, according to its presentation. In particular, Pangyo Zero City, PTV 2 serves as a test bed for autonomous vehicles, according to Pangyo Techno Valley Secretariat.
