Dedicated to the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Korea & Thailand, Thailand National Day 2018 anniversary heralded again a new chapter toward next 60 years to pave the way for a new diplomatic horizon between the two nations.

Hosting its commemorating diplomatic fete on noon, Dec. 3st(Monday) at a downtown hotel Seoul, Thailand Amb. & Mme. Singtong Lapisatepun focused their attention on emphasizing the achivements of former Thailand King His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej as well as ever-growing ties between Korea & Thailand which was initiated with the participation of Thai soldiers in the Korean War during 1950-1953 period.

Royal Project Thailand, Environmental development affairs, & Sufficient Economy Philosophy etc. were poster catchphrases invited guests were able to see at the lobby of the reception venue while they were walking into the reception venue.

Touching upon the achivements of former Thailand King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Lapisatepun looked back upon the memory of former Thailand King who passed away on Oct. 13th, 2016 with his special respect and affection, saying that Adulyadej has devoted his entire 70 years on improving the life quality of the Thai peoples.

As regarding its Sufficiency Economy Philosophy, The Sufficiency Economy is a philosophy developed by King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand through his royal remarks over the past almost 40 years, Lapisatepun introduced.

Thailand values this new economics philosophy as a practical tool to effectively manage capitalism in a way that aligns and engages it with social sustainable development. In doing so, Thailand hopes that this approach will foster accountability and empower people and their communities. More importantly, the main goal of The Sufficiency Economy is to measure economic development not just using GDP, but also by taking the reduction of social inequality and poverty into account.

As regarding Thailand’s Unique Royal Projects, His Majesty King Bhumibhol Adulyadej and members of Thailand’s Royal Family have set up numerous village-based community development projects nationwide which are now open for small-scale tourism. They provide unique insights into the King’s concept of a sufficiency economy and are models of alternative economic development, according to the Embassy of Thailand.

On behalf of the government, deputy minister Yoon Sun-gu from MOFAT in charge of political affairs who was on hand, said President Moon’s New Southern Policy will usher Korea-Thailand relations into an era of another new 60 years in tamdem with developing Korea-ASEAN countries relations further.

On the other hand, Thailand was cited as the best country in the world to start a business, according to the 2018 Best Countries Rankings Report by the U.S News and World Report. It came 27th in the overall ranking of "Best Countries.”, said the Embassy of Thailand.

The 2018 Best Countries report and rankings are based on how global perceptions define countries in terms of a number of qualitative characteristics, impressions that have the potential to drive trade, travel and investment and directly affect national economies. The rankings were decided after 21,000 respondents were asked to evaluate 80 countries on 65 attributes, such as power, citizenship, cultural influence, and quality of life, which helped to determine each country’s success as a modern nation.
