Introduction To Taiwanese fruit
Every year, more and more visitors from all over the world come to Taiwan but guess
what? They miss something here. Taiwan, with a wide variety of high quality fruit, is not
only the famous Formosa Island but also the Kingdom of Fruit. What fruit did you try
during your trip? Most people tried only mango ice and told me the mango was fantastic
and “real”. They love it! However, they don’t have time to try others or they don’t even know other fruits in Taiwan.
Taiwan, which is located in both tropical and subtropical climates, grows good tropical
fruits like pineapples, bananas, papayas, watermelons, mangos, guavas, drangon fruits,
bell fruits, longans, lychees, custard apples, etc. You can buy fruit in fruit shops,
convenient stores or supermarkets.
For those who have tried these fruits, it's a brand new experience in their life.
Some visitors tried guavas with plum powder in the night market and said they don’
t like the taste of plum powder. Some ate guavas in the wrong way, to cut the skin and
eat the seed part. Some people wondered how to peel dragon fruits and just bite it.
Few are afraid of bell fruits because of the shape. As for longans and lychees, some poor
visitors ate the seeds inside. And some said they never heard of custard apples but they
are really sweet and delicious. Have you tried any of the above?
The Kingdom of Fruit has not only high quality fruit but also fair price.
It's interesting that when there are too many bananas, every soldier in Taiwan eat
bananas every day in the military for two months because the price drops hugely,
they eat bananas to help the banana farmers. Don't worry. Except for export to other
countries, Taiwanese fruit is used to make many fruit-related products, like pineapple
cakes, dried fruit chips, papaya milk, watermelon juice and milk, dried mangos,
mango ice, mango smoothie, fruit popsicle, etc. Next time when you come to Taiwan,
don’t miss them!
