With a special theme, dubbed as “The Legend of Winter

Olympic Sports”, the long-waited annual 28th FKCCI(The French-Korean Chamber of Commerce & Industry) Year-end Gala attracted over about 800 guests in Korea who are

doing their business related to Korea-French relations.

Because the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games is

scheduled to take place from Feb. 9, next year, naturally all

themes were gathered to PyeongChang including speeches

from FICCK chairman David-Pierre Jalicon, French Amb. Fabien

Penone, chairman Lee Hee-beom of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Organizing Committee.

Prior to its full-fledged party, all guests enjoyed cocktail reception at the lobby

of the Grand Ballroom, Grand Hyatt Seoul, looking forward to

their successful businesses next year as well and wishing further

for flourishing Korea-French relations in the years to come. From the Diplomatic Corps.,

couple, Morocco Amb. Chafik Rachadi couple and last but not

least French Amb. Fabien Penone couple as guest honor were on hand.

First off, FKCCI chairman Jalicon said through his welcoming

remarks: “Korea & France are two powers which realize Olympic

spirit”, adding French community in Korea also would like to

participate in the upcoming PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games actively.

In the case of the winter Olympic games, its first winter Olympic

games were held for the first time in Chamonix, France on

1924 about 100 years ago and he sincerely hopes that French

community within Korea will be able to take part in the upcoming

PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games proactively, Jalicon said.

Touching upon the fact that 2017 has been one year which

upgraded bilateral relations between Korea & France one notch

higher, French Amb. Fabien Penone pinpointed the FKCCI’s important role which contributed not a little to boosting such

flourishing bilateral ties between the two nations this year.

As regarding high-ranking offcials’ exchanges between Korea & France this year,

Penone named ASEM Economic Ministers Meeting in Seoul last

Sep., Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-hwa’s official visit to France in Oct., Industry Minister Baek Un-kyu’s visit to France in Nov. this year to discuss energy field

cooperations, to name just a few. Penone expected for the

upcoming PyeongChang Winter Olmpic Games in Korea to serve

as a good opportunity to consolidate friendship & partnerships

between the two countries, wrapping up his speech.

& French Amb. Pabien Penone, promised to prepare next year’s Korea’s Winter Olympic Games perfectly so that the upcoming 2018

PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games in Korea can be the best-ever winter Olympic Games in history, adding about 2,900

athletes from 95 countries around the world will compete.

Dear guests!

Tonight, we are very happy to be able to greet all of you to the

gala dinner of the 28th FKCCI Year-end gala party which is held gorgeously every year. At the end

of every year, FKCCI’s gala is heralding the start of the festive season.

Specially this year, FKCCI has prepared its special programs with

a theme, dubbed as “From Chamonix to PyeongChang” because

as you all know, the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games

will take place in PyeongChang, Gangwon Province, Korea on Feb., next year.

In a time when the Winter Olympic Games to be held in Korea

lies ahead of just two months, FKCCI wants to congratulate

friendships between the two countries, allowing all of you to

enjoy FKCCI’s peculiar party with various gala programs, decoration, food

menus and so forth.

In 1924 about 100 years ago than the PyeongChang Winter

Olympic Games will be held, Chamonix, France greeted the first

winter Olympic Games. In that regard, today’s theme “From Chamonix to PyeongChang” implies the legend of

winter Olympic Games history, signaling the long friendship

between Korea & France which dates back to 1886 about 130 years ago.

Personally I sincerely hope that French communities within

Korea will be able to take part in the upcoming PyeongChang

Winter Olympic Games proactively for the success of Winter Olympic

Games in Korea as well as to implant the image of France firmly.

So FKCCI has prepared ‘Bus France’ which goes from Seoul to

PyeongChang and will share France’s traditional dishes with diverse atmospheres.

At the same time, we are very delighted to welcome France’s

young rising singer d’Alma who represented the 2017 Eurovision

France as well as will

amuse all of you with her shining songs tonight. Moreover, diverse

events and surprises are awaiting all of you tonight.
