For 2017, Uzbekistan National Day holds a special significance not only for new
arrived Uzbekistan envoy to the Republic of Korea Vitali Fen but also for the new
launched Uzbekistan government which launched on last Dec., 2016 after the
death of former Uzbekistan President Karimov.
Uzbek Amb. Vitali Fen served during 18 years as Uzbek envoy in Korea, the
longest service period for one Amb. accredited to Korea so far, serving as
Dean of the Seoul Diplomatic Corps. during several years until he left Korea.
So he is very acquainted with Korean politics, economic circles as well as members
of the Diplomatic Missions than any envoys in Seoul. In that regard, Uzbekistan
National Day 2017 reception to commemorate its 26th Independence Day from
former Soviet Union attracted many figures from all walks of life including MOFA,
domestic economic circles, and the Seoul Diplomatic Corps. including businessmen
doing their operation in Uzbekistan or Korea in addition to many Uzbek residents in Korea.
Chief Kim Hong-kyun from the headquarters for peaceful negotiation on the peninsular, MOFAT,
chairman Cho Jeong-won from the World Taekwondo Federation, chairman
Byun Jae-il from the Korea-Uzbekistan Parliamentary Friendship Association, chairman Kim Yoon-shik from the Honorary Concul Corps. who serves as chairman of Korea-Uzbekistan Friendship Association concurrently, former Uzbek Amb. Lee Uk-hun, Incheon Metropolitan City mayor Yoo Jeong-bok, and chairman Sung Ki-hak from Youngone Corp. were conspicuous among crowded peoples as well.
From Uzbekistan side, chairman Botir Parpiev of State Tax Committee from
Uzbekistan and deputy mayor Alisher Tilyaev from Tashkent etc. were conspicuous.
First of all, new accredited Uzbek Amb. Vitali Fen who took office as of July 18th,
this year, stressed the standing of Uzbekistan in the international arena, adding
Uzbekistan is a a reliable partner as well as member of international community.
Touching upon last 25 years since the two countries inked diplomatic relations,
Fen said Korean companies have been most reliable parnters so that Uzbek
infrastructures have been diversified and modernized. Amb. Fen showed keen
interests for the cooperation of eudcation field with Korea, adding the
cooperation with Inha University is a vivid example of education projects in Tashkent.
Chief Kim Hong-kyun from the headquarters for peaceful negotiation on the peninsular, MOFAT
also who was on hand on behalf of the government, said he believes under the
able leadership President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Uzbekistan will pave the way for
new its international standing.
