-Egypt Gallery is the very first permanent exhibition hall dedicated to Egyptian civilization

The National Museum of Korea has reorganized its existing Asian Arts Gallery into the “World Art Gallery” to present a variety of cultures from all over the world.

As its first case, the National Museum of Korea prepared Egypt Gallery which will be open to viewers for two years until November 2021. To mark its official opening of Egypt Gallery, Egypt envoy Hazem M. Fahmy threw an opening reception at the Gallery to raise its awareness with a view to boosting its publicity effect for the Diplomatic Corps. as well as Korean public yesterday evening(Dec. 16th).

According to the Embassy of Egypt, Egypt Gallery is the very first permanent exhibition hall dedicated to Egyptian civilization. This gallery is co-organized with the Brooklyn Museum in the U.S., which is known as one of the world’s foremost institutions on the subject for its Egyptian collection, said its curator.

Egypt Gallery is not showing merely old civilization of Egypt, but will show how Egypt civilization had affected Western culture, added Director General Bae Ki-dong from National Museum of Korea. Understanding various cultures provides the opportunity to look back on our own culture, as well as a wider perspective to comprehend other ones. The World Art Gallery will exhibit major East and West civilizations as well as Asian cultures at intervals of one or two years with its Egypt Gallery as its starting point, said Bae.

Among Diplomatic Corps., EU Amb. Michael Reiterer, Azerbaijan Amb. Ramzi Teymurov, Belarus Amb. Andrei Popkov, Israel Amb. Chaim Choshen, Kuwait Amb. Bader Mohjaamd Al-Awadi, Morocco Amb. Chafik Rachadi, Greece Amb. Ifigeneia Kontoleontos, Ukraine Amb. Olexander Horin, Croatia Amb. Damir Kusen, Afghanistan Amb. Abdul Hakim Atarud, Holy See Amb. Archbishop Alfred Xuereb etc. shined the opening ceremony.
