As the 7th global R&D center, Boeing Korea opened its Boeing Korea Engineering & Technology Centre in Seoul following Europe, Australia, Brazil, Russia and India.

MOCIE(Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy) has been devoting many-sided efforts in order to attract Boeing's cutting-edge new technology field's R&D Center in Korea including several high ranking level's consultations with Boeing executives in the US.

Boeing's global R&D Center in Korea will charge smart cabin, next-generation aero electronics, cutting-edge manufacturing smart factory, autonomous flight, AI etc., according to Boeing Korea.

It is significant above all that Boeing Global R&D Center in Korea dealing with above-mentioned areas is for the first time among several Boeing's oversea global centers. MOCIE Minister Sung Yun-mo said in a commemorative event to congratulate the opening of Boeing Global Center in Korea held at a downtown hotel Seoul on last Friday evening (Nov. 1) that it is highly valued that Boeing chose Korea as its cooperative partner.

US Amb. Harry Harris also who was on hand, said: "Besides high-notch job creation through the investment of global enterprise's R&D Center like Boeing, Boeing Global Center is expected to lead Korea's aero industry to the most cutting-edge high value-added fields".

Welcoming guests at the opening ceremony, Boeing Korea CEO Eric John who turned from diplomat to corporate executive, mentioned that in addition, through future aero parts development & manufacturing, Boeing Global Center Korea appears to be able to construct preemptive technology and industry ecosystem about the future new industries such as PAV etc.

On the other hand, KEIT & Boeing International inked MoU which agrees to embark concrete joint developments tasks from next year centering around first of all, three fields, first smart cabin, secondly aero electronics, and last but not least thirdly cutting-edge manufacturing as well as smart factory.
