-2020 Spain-Korea 70th diplomatic ties anniversary will be another wonderful opportunity to strengthen Korea-Spain diplomatic relations: Spain envoy Morro

The 1978 Spanish Constituion has turned 40 years. Throughout 4 decades, Spain has been consolidated as one of the most democratic, modern, supportive and plural countries in the world.

Touching upon Spain's recent democratic change, Spain envoy Juan Ignacio MORRO VILLACIAN who arrived in Korea recently, said: "We are reinforcing our pro-European vocation and we are committed to the objectives of the Agenda 2030, one of the great challenges of the current international diplomatic agenda."

In a diplomatic reception to commemorate Spain National Day 2019, held at a downtown Hotel Seoul last Thursday(Oct. 10th) evening for the first time after his arrival in Korea, Morro added that these 40 years have been the best of our history in political, economic and social terms.

Referring to the fact that we are always proud of our large cultural and linguistic heritage, Morro mentioned: "We have one of the most tolerant societies in the world, serving as a worldwide model for gender quality and inclusion, and committed to the environment protection and the sustainability of our planet."

According to prestigious international indexes, Spain ranks at the forefront in areas such as democracy, freedom, equality and rule of law.

Touching upon his country's edges, Spain envoy Morro explained that we have one of the best infrastructure networks in the world in addition to leaders in high speed trains, and in the management of natural & energy resources.

Our companies lead in sectors like engineering, clean energies or construction worldwide, and our scientists achieve extraordinary progress in medicine or biotechnology, added Morro.

More importantly in 2020 next year, Korea & Spain are celebrating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between them. It will be a wonderful opportunity to strengthen our ties and exchanges in all levels and among our communities, said Morro.

Separately from Spain Natioanl Day function, Korea-Spain Business Forum in which Spain King Felipe VI of Spain will be invited, is scheduled to take place on Oct. 25 moring at Four Seasons Hotel Seoul.

Spain King Felipe VI, Minister Maria Reves Maroto from the Ministry of Spain Industry, Commerce & Tourism, Minister You Myung-hee from the Ministry of Korea Industry, Commerce & Resources are scheduled to speak their opening remarks respectively.

According to Korcham, the 1 session will deal with the ways of Korea-Spain business as well as Infra construction collaboration.
