With one mouth, Morocco Amb. Chafik Rachadi, Deputy Minister Lee Tae-ho from MOFAT, and last but not least Deputy Speaker Lee Ju-young from the National Assembly described very impressively current bilateral relations between Korea & Morocco in a grand gala dinner reception held at a downtown hotel Seoul on July 31st evening, proclaiming that “2018 was a year of Korea-Morocco”

The celebration of the glorious Throne Day is a most fitting occasion to reiterate our unwavering commitment to the Moroccanness of the Sahara, to our national unity and territorial integrity, and to full sovereignty over every inch of the Kingdom’s territory, according to Rachadi.

Morocco Amb. Rachadi who received last year’s Top Amb. award from the NDNnews & its affiliation organization Korea Culture Ambassador Friendship Association, acknowledes often mutual complementary connectivity that the Republic of Korea can rely on the Kingdom of Morocco as an opening to the African space, just as Morocco can rely on the Republic of Korea as opening for it to the Asian-Pacific Region.

With the 7th Meeting of ROK-Morocco Joint Committee held at the end of Oct., last year as a new momentum & impetus, Your Excellency further allowed to pave the way for the ROK & Morocco to expand mutually-beneficial cooperation in various areas, including not only trade and investment, but development and environmental affairs in addition to having prepared a friendly environment so that Korean companies can enlarge their advance into Morocco, tells the plague at that time.

As regarding the latest high-ranking officials meetings between the two countries, Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon held talks with his Moroccan counterpart, Saad Eddine El Othmani, in Rabat on Dec. 20, 2018, speaking during S. Korea-Morocco business forum in Casablanca. In conjunction with such high-ranking officials meetings, Deputy Speaker Lee Ju-young from the National Assembly said those meetings allowed for the two nations to pave the way for both cooperative diversifications in the fields of science technology, new renewable energy, trade investment, higher education, to name just a few.

Deputy Minister Lee Tae-ho from MOFAT also who served as Korean Amb. to Morocco from 2012 to 2015 in Casablanca, praised wise leadership of His Majesty The King Mohammed VI, Morocco, saying that Morocco became an exemplary country regarding tackling terrorism and international security problem etc., among others.

On the other hand, His Majesty The King Mohammed VI, Morocco said through his Speech to the Nation on Occasion of Throne Day that our main ambition is for Morocco to join the ranks of developed nations, adding nevertheless, the new era we are about to enter is fraught with internal and external challenges to which we must rise.

They include the following in particular, said the King: Firstly: the challenge of enhancing trust and consolidating achievements: this is the recipe for success and a condition for fulfilling our ambitions. It concerns trust among citizens and trust in the national institutions that bring them together. It is about having faith in a better future.
• Secondly, the challenge of avoiding isolation, especially in some sectors which require openness towards international experiences. This is a gateway to economic development and progress. It makes it possible for Moroccan businesses and operators to hone their competitive skills.

•Thirdly, the challenge of accelerating economic development and enhancing institutional efficiency: the aim is to build a strong, competitive economy by continuing to incentivize private entrepreneurship, in addition to launching new programs for productive investment and creating more jobs.

Last but not least, •Fourthly, the challenge of social and regional justice: the aim is to complete the building of a nation of hope and equality for all; a country where there is no place for blatant inequalities, frustrating behavior, rent seeking or time and energy wasting.
Therefore, there must be a final break with such negative attitudes and conduct; we must uphold the values of hard work, responsibility, merit and equal opportunity, the King said.
