-Georgia’s importance in terms of its strategic location allows Korea to pave the way for new cooperation possibilities of many business opportunities, Otar

Even though Georgia gained its independence 28 years ago, its history stretches to several thousands years like Korea.

The Independence Day reception of Georgia hosted by Georgia Amb. Otar Berdzenishi & Mme. Maia Gogoladze allowed participants including Diplomatic Corps. to aware of the fact that the Republic of Korea & Georgia share same values based on free open market economy.

Following former Georgia Amb. Nikoloz Apkhazava who serves as Georgia Amb. in Malaysia, current Georgia Amb. Otar Berdzenishi also has been very diligent & enthusiastic since presenting his credentials  to allow Koreans to better understand Georgia even more including the PyeongChang Olympic-related activities and regional trips such as recent Busan Global Gathering, YongPyong Intl Ski Festival participation at the beginning of this year etc., to name just a few.

Thanks to aggressive marketing activities of Georgian Embassy in Seoul, wine imports from Georgia increased 300% compared with last year, according to Otar’s speech held last Wendesday in a downtown Hotel Seoul. In a nutshell, Georgia is a country of hope the world pays attention to it. In that regard, Georgia’s importance in terms of its strategic location allows Korea to pave the way for new cooperation possibilities of many business opportunities, Otar said.

K-Water CEO Lee Hak-su & Madame Yoo Seung-hee who serves as the chairperson of the Korea-Georgia Parliamentary Friendship Group were guest honours and the Seoul Diplomatic Corps. also were in large numbers including Ukraine Amb. Olexander Horin & Mme., Romania Amb. Mihai Ciompec & Mme., Finland Amb. Eero Suominen, Chile Amb. Fernando Danus etc.

Through his SPEECH as well DELIVERED BY PRIME MINISTER OF GEORGIA AT FREEDOM SQUARE ON INDEPENDENCE DAY OF GEORGIA , Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze also pinpointed Georgia’s European choice, saying: "Self-esteem of any state is measured by its attitude towards those people, who protect the dignity and freedom of its homeland by putting their lives at stake. This year we started to build a new residential district for our servicemen and their families. Long history of Georgia is full of fights for freedom and belief, our traditions, maintenance of our identity, values that created our common European civilization. That is why our European choice is our civilization choice as it has been conditioned by the sacrificing fight, which turned into a corner stone of the First Georgian Republic. Friends, this very Republic was born on this day and its existence was not pardoned either by its external or internal enemies."

PM Bakhtadze added that today, we have a democratic, free and European type of state, which is based on values established 100 years ago by the generation of the First Georgian Republic. We are grateful to all, who have brought this country to the present day. It is May 26 today and it is symbolic that Merab Kostava would turn 80 years old. First President of Georgia - Zviad Gamsakhurdia would have turned 80 in 2019 as well. I bow to the memory of their eternal souls.
