Serving over 8 years as Oman envoy to the Republic of Korea, the longest-serving Ambassador among the Seoul Diplomatic Corps., Oman Amb. Mohamed Alharthy has been a key man during last 8 years in terms of promoting Oman to the Korean public.

In hosting the 2018 Oman 48th National Day function this year, Amb. Alharthy was no exception in that he stresses Oman is a wise mediator who contributes to the world peace, touching upon Korea-Oman relations which dates back to the Unified Shilla Dynasty.

From the standpoint of the Korea Culture Ambassador Friendship Association, an affiliate organization of the NDNnews (www.ndnnews.co.kr) & Seoulcity magazine, Oman envoy has been serving as Advisor for it. As far as we remember, Oman Amb. attended Daegu My Hometown Festival with the NDNnews and his families joined Munkyung trip, respectively.

What was most noteworthy during his welcome remarks, was the Oman foreign policy principles which are on building bridges of friendship and cooperation with various world countries, based on mutual respect, common interests, standing always with the side of right and justice, and non- interference in the affairs of others.

In that regard, Oman is highly respected in the international arena for its wise diplomacy to the cause of world peace. It has been widely praised for its efforts in this regard, which have made it a meeting point and an oasis of dialogue and peace, according to Alharthy.

Oman's economic policy is based on economic diversification and openness to world markets. Industrial zones and free economic zones offer many projects and investment opportunities in various sectors such as industry and logistics, tourism, minerals and fisheries, energy and technology. There are many encouraging incentives, including strategic geographical location, security and political stability, and many facilities to attract foreign investment.

The Omani-Korean relations have developed in various aspects, and the contribution of Korean companies has increased in various projects in Oman. In the culmination of the cordial relations between the two countries, was the visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea, HE Lee Nak Yun, to Oman last July as many topics were discussed, beside the Oman-Korea business forum that was held during the visit and the signing of MOU of the cooperation in smart cities.

Attending as representative from the Korean Government, 1st Deputy Minister Cho Hyun from MOFAT sincerely hoped that the cooperation between the two countries would be expanded to renewable energy, smart city, health beyond just existing energy field. For reference, Oman is the 3rd largest supplier in terms of natural gas supplier to Korea. Korea intends to be a real friend by supporting Oman’s 2020 National Vision etc., Cho added.
