- The "Gates" to Central Asia

Now, Turkmenistan, along with other Central Asian countries, occupies one of key places the world in view of existence of the richest energy resources and a unique geographical position at the intersection of transport ways, being some kind of the "Gates" to Central Asia.

To mark its 27th Independence anniversary from former Soviet Union, Turkmenistan Amb. Myrat Mammetallyev threw a dinner reception for the Seoul Diplomatic Corps, Turkmenistan residents in Korea as well as Korean friends at a local Seoul hotel last Thursday evening on Oct. 11.

Retrospecting over last 27 years since its Independence, Mammetallyev said: “For many centuries Turkmenistan standing on the intersection of the roads connecting the East to the West and the South with the North, serves as the bridge uniting continents, the people and their cultures. Since the first Independence Day our country has developed own foreign policy strategy, at which Turkmenistan adheres to policy of "open doors", positive neighborliness, a constant neutrality, non-interference to internal affairs of other states, non-use of force, non-alignment to military blocks and formations, promotes development of friendly and mutually beneficial relations.”

Turkmenistan, in its foreign policy, gives priority to ensuring stability and security in the regional and global dimensions, advocating for strengthening the partnership on disarmament issues, in the fight against terrorism and drug trafficking, and other challenges and threats of our time. Regularly bringing these topics up for discussion at major international platforms, our country is taking concrete steps in this direction, said the Embassy of Turkmenistan.

In connection with such initiative, the Embassy of Turkmenistan contributed as follows to the Oct. issue of the Seoulcity magazine & NDNnews(www.ndnnews.co.kr) with a title of “Peace and security strategy: . joining efforts in countering terrorism–Ed.

The following is an abstract of Turkmenistan Embassy contribution: “Turkmenistan is a competent member of international politics as one of active UN-member states, makes its significant contribution to consolidate international community efforts in countering the threats against humanity, especially terrorism and radicalism. The President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov underlines that, countering terrorism acquires strategic significance on the agenda of multilateral cooperation of Turkmenistan within Community of Nations along with global tasks in ensuring security such as disarmament and non-proliferation, transport and energy, environment and several other aspects defined by the UN Sustainable Development Goals.”
