- Government’s modernization plan of transport part, its carbon neutralist nation materialization etc. are top agenda priorities in Costa Rica: First Lady Claudia Dobles Camargo of Costa Rica

First Lady Claudia Dobles Camargo of Costa Rica, spouse of Costa Rica President Carlos Alvarado, expressed her deep interest, saying she would like to hear much about Korea’s accumulated knowhows regarding electricity car, transport card system, remaintenance project of public transport route in a recent meeting with First Lady Kim Jeong-sook held on Oct. 8th morning in the Blue House.

Costa Rica First Lady visited Korea to attend an international conference hosted by GCF as well as to join Costa Rica’s 197th National Day reception ahead of its historic 200th anniversary in the upcoming 2021, held on Oct. 8th evening at the Seoul Millennium Hilton hosted by the Embassy of Costa Rica in attendance of the vice minister of Costa Rican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Lorena Aguilar Revelo in addition to commemorating her country’s abolishment 70th anniversary of Costa Rica Armed Forces.

Touching upon its Government’s modernization plan of transport part, its carbon neutralist nation materialization etc, to name just a few, she stressed Korea is a major alliance for Costa Rica to accomplish such goals ahead of its country 200th Independence Anniversary in the upcoming 2021 through her special speech in a diplomatic reception at the same day.

Costa Rica First Lady Claudia Dobles Camargo visited Korea for the first time among Asian countries since her husband Costa Rica President Alvarado took office in last May, this year and expressed her Government’s willingness to support Korean Government’s peace initiative, adding she knows very well that President Moon Jae-in & First Lady Kim Jeong-sook are devoting many efforts on the peace settlement on the Peninsula.

On top of that, two First Ladies shared that diverse efforts are under way in Costa Rica to elevate the ratio of women high-ranking officials among its Government officials in addition to society advancement of women, coexistence problem between work & household etc.

Costa Rica Amb. Quiros echoed same opinion through his welcome remarks with Costa Rica First Lady, adding Korea has been a major partner for Costa Rica in terms of productive friendly development of diplomatic ties and knowledge exchange between the two nations to name just a few areas during last 56 years when the two countries inked diplomatic relations on August 15, 1962.

Minister Kim Boo-gyuem from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety who was on hand to deliver Korean Government’s congratulatory remarks on behalf of the Government, expressed the Government’s gratitude for the support from the Government of Costa Rica in seeking peace settlement on the Korean Peninsula.

The Republic of Costa Rica is a nation that upholds peace, human rights and a nuclear free world as non-negotiable universal values, and we see the efforts and continuous dialogue conducted by the dignitaries of the Republic of Korea and the Democratic People´s Republic of Korea as the most direct and rightful path to reach the necessary agreements for mutual conciliation for the common good of human kind. Peaceful conciliation can only be carried out through valiant and countless efforts for dialogue with the understanding that roadblocks will always be present. However, as long as peaceful dialogue continue, peace will prevail.
