“Georgia’s ultimate goal is to become EU member as well as to join NATO”: Georgia Amb. Otar Berdzenishi

To commemorate 100 years of Georgia’s First Democratic Republic, many events are being planned within May this year, according to the Embassy of Georgia.

 

 

 

For example, a charter flight under the auspieces of the Korean Air & Hanjin Travel flew to Tbilisi, capital of Georgia. Secondly, Georgia National Flag colour will light the building of the Seoulcity Hall in the afternoon on May 26 to mark 100 years of Georgia’s First Democratic Republic in Korea.

 

Thirdly, Georgia traditional performance troupe will travel to 5 cities within the Republic of Korea to showcase Georgia’s traditional performances for Korean audiences this fall.

As part of such commemorating events, the Embassy of Georgia hosted the 2018 National Day reception on May 15th evening at the Sommerset Palace roofgarden while envoys from the Seoul Diplomatic Corps. were on hand in large numbers including Canada Amb. Eric Walsh, Finland Amb. Eero Suominen, Germany Amb. Stephan AUER, as well as neighbouring countries envoys such as Ukraine Amb. Olexander Horin, Uzbekistan Amb. Vitali Fen, Turkmenistan Amb. Myrat Mammetallyev, and last but not least Belarus Amb. Andrei Popkov etc.

Georgia Amb. Otar Berdzenishi underlined by his welcome remarks that Georgia’s ultimate goal is to become EU member as well as to join NATO, adding Georgia believes recent 3rd South-North Korea Summit as well as the forthcoming US-North Korea Summit will bring about concrete conclusion regarding the denuclearization and permanent peace on the peninsula.

“During the past 25 years, the world has been able to witness Georgia’s commitment to freedom, democracy, security, prosperity and economic development, according to the Embassy of Georgia.

 

So Georgia has succeeded in moving from a fragile state to a market democracy, from an inefficient economy to a path of successful democratic reforms, building strong institutions, providing appropriate social services and creating conditions for the free economy to thrive”.

In regards with EU integreation, during recent years, Georgia started a very exciting journey towards the European family of nations, where Georgia rightfully belongs to. The historic signature of the Association Agreement by Georgia in 2014 marked an outstanding achievement in its relations with the EU and provided a strong incentive to further development and genuine transformation.

 

 

More importantly, Georgia has become one of the leaders in the region in terms of stability and investment attractiveness, which is duly reflected in ratings of the international institutions”. “In this context, the facilitation of the trade liberalization and integration into the World’s leading markets represent Georgia’s top economic priorities.
