Ahead of its upcoming Incheon Global Campus trip on May 14(Monday) 2018,

kr) sat down with President Kim Ki-hyung from Incheon Global Campus Foundation
to hear his vision & strategies to develop Incheon Global Campus as one of the
top-notch global universities in the world. -Ed.

"Not a concept of branch campus of world prestigious university, but their
extended campus or global campus concept"

Q: First of all, please introduce Incheon Global Campus briefly.
A: Incheon Global Campus settled down as a pivot for industrial, academic
and laboratory cluster of Incheon Free Economic Zone as a comprehensive
campus of oversea prestigious university representing the first & the best at
home.

Starting from the State University of New York on March, last 2012, George Mason
University Korea on March, 2014, Belgium Ghent University Global Campus on Sep.,
2014 and last but not least the University of Utah Asia Campus opened their
campuses respectively in Incheon Global Campus. As new freshmen are enrolled in
the Fashion Institute of Technology State University of New York, a worldwide
fashion Institute on August last year, we can say proudly that the first-phase
project has been successfully softlanded. So overcoming difficulties such as
shortage of student numbers at the initial time of its establishment, Incheon
Global Campus entered into its settlement phase to a some degree. Nowadays,
visits & inquiries to benchmark our campus from home & abroad don't cease.
As a kind of all their headquarter's extended campus concept, all IGC campuses
select & educate students with strict admission entreaty & curriculum from their
home campuses. So students receive their degree after being
educated three years in Korea and one year in their home campus respectively.
Currently, about 2,000 students from 40 countries are studying at campus and substantial
outcomes are being created as high level education curriculum of IGC universities
are linked to company's work-site operation. As each universities produced their
graduates starting from SUNY on Jan. last year, these first alumni are recognized
in terms of their competitiveness, succeeding in getting a job in prominent enterprises
at home & abroad such as Korean Air, LG Electronics Iran branch, Facebook Singapore,
semiconductor equipment manufacturer Genesem within Songdo International City and
multinational enterprise KPMG etc.

At IGC, its registration fee is reasonable relatively compared with studying at abroad.
So we believe that because same academic degree acquisition is possible with the home
campus of foreign university, increasing entrance applicants will be able to decrease
studying demand abroad and contribute considerably to solving chronic red figure of
income & expenditure happening from studying demand abroad.

Q: How is your Foundation management philosophy as CEO of Incheon Global Campus Foundation
who has inaugurated at the end of last year?
A: In order to accomplish our goals with common vision dubbed as "Best Global Education Hub
in Northeast Asia", I believe that it is the most important priority task to forge
happy Foundation atmosphere where above all, all components of the campus are healthy
get excited. To sum up, those are to expand convenient facilities, to elevate students
supplement rate, to cement self-supporting base and last but not least to forge a working
atmosphere getting excited.
I suppose that to boost the happiness & health index and to elevate the
satisfaction about resident universities will be most priority attraction strategy. To
unfold attraction campaign activities as well all over the world will be good, but
satisfying first of all resident universities can induce to attract external universities.
We will strive to forge an environment where each universities can develop and become
independent financially by maximizing synergy in partnership with international organizations
& enterprises stationed in Songdo International City. We will do our best to become 'Best
Global Education Hub in the world' beyond 'Best Global Education Hub in Northeast Asia'.

Q: What are most priority project goal or plan in 2018?
A: Our campus is a national project which is under way. So we are in a toddling stage. For example,
with regard to exercise facilities for students among school convenient facilities, the most
part is short and insufficient. To expand more diverse school convenient facilities are
needed. In addition, we want to lay emphasis on constructing our self-supporting base
by publicizing campus & brand value strategically jointly with resident universities
and by elevating students supplement rate. However to accomplish such purposes, it will be
most important priority task to forge a good atmosphere where above all, all components
of the campus are healthy and get excited.

Q: How can the edge of Incheon Global Campus be described and what is its vision in the years to come?
A: Students who graduated from each universities at IGC, receive their degree
of foreign prestigious university alike with home campus students from home campuses.
So IGC is not a concept of branch campus of world prestigious university, but their
extended campus or global campus concept. Home campus supervises all academic operations directly
such as admission, graduation entreaty, degree conferment, differently from branch campuses.
Professors of all schools also are dispatched from home campuses and classes are proceeded
with English in all curriculum. Curriculum which are opened at IGC, are prepared with priority
given to curriculum which are assessed to be most excellent by resident universities.
Accordingly, an entering student at IGC will be able to study most excellent curriculum from several
prestigious universities globally at one place, IGC.
For domestic Korean students, IGC provides them with an opportunity to gain effect of studying abroad
with reasonable expenses without departing from their homeland and for foreign students, IGC can
satisfy their interest in Korean Hanryu by allowing them to experience Korean culture as well as
to acquire Asian languages such as Korean language or Chinese language etc. The biggest edge of
Incheon Global Campus is a community concept of same family and to have a more
expanded global network.

Q: As CEO who supervises IGC Foundation, how do you think of global education which are needed
for Korean students:
A: In the secrets of power countries lie to attach importance to recognizing on another country's
culture, religion, customs, language, and last but not least Tolerance. I believe that 3T(Technology,
Talent, Tolerance) concepts by Prof. Richard Florida who is the author of creative class, creative
city, leads the world by forming new creative city and Creative class.
IGC will not spare any assistance in allowing Korean students to grow as world citizens and cosmopolitans.
