"Global Ireland & Project Ireland 2040 Kicks Off"
Trade between Korea & Ireland was worth over 2.6 billion
euro in 2017 and is increasing each year-even greater potential post Brexit, said Ireland Housing,
Planning and Local Government Minister Murphy Eoghan
during a commemorate reception to mark Ireland St. Patrick’s Day 2018.
In a gesture to engage important agendas with the Republic
of Korea as a key partner for Ireland, Eoghan visited Seoul,
introduced Ireland Amb. Julian Clare in a diplomatic
reception held in a hotel Yeoido on March 13th evening
for the Seoul Diplomatic Corps. as well as Korean invited
guests including Ireland Honorary Consul chairman
Cho Yang-ho from Korean Air.
In an interview with the NDNnews (www.ndnnews.co.kr)
on the spot, Eoghan said Ireland attaches especial importance
to relations with Korea, to say nothing of EU, adding he
expects positive outlook in various areas with regard to
mutual cooperations between the two countries. He
seemed to have firm confidence about the growing Ireland-Korea trade links and the potential for further cooperation
in the future.
During his stay in Seoul, Minister Eoghan laid a wreath at the
Memorial to those of Irish birth or heritage who died in the
Korean War, in the service of the United Nations or as
civilians. And then, he visited Novaerus, an Irish company
making waves thousands of miles from home and
MarcoBevSystems, a leader for craft coffee. Minister Eoghan
Murphy gave also a stimulating talk on ‘Ireland: Korea’s Partner in Europe’ for Yonsei GSIS students as well.
Now when Britain’s Brexit is being realized, Ireland is the optimal gateway
to EU single makret encompassing 450 million population,
says Clare during its fete. Like global companies such as Google,
FaceBook entered into Ireland, Korean enterprises can easily
access to EU, taking advantage of Ireland, its stronghold,
Ireland envoy recommends. He added that because Ireland
possess most young and labor forces whose education &
training were well done, among EU economic circle, Ireland is
excellent as a stronghold of R&D for Korean companies, Clare said.
As part of his country St. Patrick’s Day 2018, Global Ireland
campaign was kicked off,
according to the Embassy of Ireland.
Global Ireland is how Ireland will tell our story in a more
unified, compelling and coherent way, optimising our place
in the increasingly busy digital world. It presents a country
that is self-confident, ambitious, outward facing, and forward looking.
Global Ireland was kicking off with a digital communications
campaign called ‘Ireland – Here we Live’. It presents Ireland
as we are, not a small country on the edge of Europe, but
an island at the centre of the world.
Ireland.ie a website for people all over the world to find
out about Ireland. It aims to showcase Ireland as a place in
which to live, visit, invest and study. Ireland.ie is now
available in 5 languages, with more to follow, and has
information on the Government of Ireland’s ‘footprint’ around the world including contact details of
Embassies, Consulates, and State Agencies.
Further, the Embassy of Ireland informed on the other hand
that Project Ireland 2040 was launched with the Government’s overarching policy initiative to make Ireland a better
country for all of us, a country that reflects the best of who
we are and what we aspire to be.
Project Ireland 2040 is informed by the Programme for a
Partnership Government 2016, which recognises that
economic and social progress go hand in hand, as well as
by the National Planning Framework to 2040 and the
National Development Plan 2018-2027. Project Ireland 2040 emphasises social outcomes and
values ahead of economic targets. It prioritises the
wellbeing of all of our people, wherever they live and
whatever their background.
