-Next year Romania will mark the 100th anniversary of the Great Union
Stressing that the Republic of Korea is the sole country in Asia
forged a strategic partnership with Romania, Romania Amb. Mihai
Ciompec underlined Romania will remain as an important strategic
partner for the Republic of Korea in terms of mutual interests in a
diplomatic reception to mark Romania National Day 2017.
Held in a downtown hotel Seoul on Nov. 29th evening, Romania
National Day 2017 became a venue to notify participants including
Diplomatic Corps. as well as Korean friends of the fact that next
year Romania will mark the 100th anniversary of the Great Union
which will be filled with a variety of events at home & abroad
to commemorate it.
Since I arrived in the Republic of Korea, one year ago, I have
been striving to open new avenues of cooperation between
the two countries, especially in order to increase our bilateral
cooperation in trade and investments, Ciompec emphasized his
role as Romania envoy. According to the National Romanian
Trade Register, 245 companies with Korean participation of capital
are registered in Romania, with a share capital of 235.3 million
USD, invested directly. The Republic of Korea is ranked 25th
place among the foreign investors in my country, with 0.40% of
the total foreign investments, he said.
Amb. Ciompec didn’t forget to mention the geographic importance
of Romania in the
context of Europe continent, adding Romania is the 7th largest
market within the EU and the largest in South-Eastern Europe as well as it is strategically located at the
crossroads between East and West, North and South, on the Black
Sea coast, within a fast growing European region.
In terms of its tourism perspective, as one of the most beautiful
countries in Eastern Europe, Romania attracts millions of tourists
each year with its scenic landscapes, unique culture and historically
significant landmarks, according to Ciompec. For example, since
Romania is rich in history, it boasts some of the most amazing
castles that were built centuries ago.
I am particularly pleased that many Koreans who travelled to
Romania fell in love with my country and became regular visitors.
And of course I encourage all Korean tourists to visit our country,
as they will certainly like it a lot, he said through his welcoming
remarks to mark Romania National Day speech.
