As 3 honorable recipients of the 2017 covetable Top Amb. Award, 

Sudan Amb. Mohamad Abdelaal Haroon, Cambodia Amb. LONG 

Dimanche, and last but not least Finland Amb. Eero Suominen 

received this year’s Top Amb. Awards from the NDNnews (www.ndnnews.co.kr) as 

well as Korea Consumer Association, an affiliation organization of 

the NDNnews thanks to their excellent diplomatic activities which 

contributed to the strategic importance & friendship between 

Korea & their respective countries.

On the awarding ceremony to bestow respective awards in 

various categories such as best administration, best product, 

best brand including this year’s Top Amb. Award held in the morning, Nov. 28th at the Memorial 

Hall, National Assembly, over 300 guests gathered, reflecting their 

hot interest in the 2017 Consumer Awards ceremony.

On behalf of the Seoul Diplomatic Corps. as well as 3 recipient 

Ambs., Finland Amb. Eero Suominen made his congratulatory 

remarks, saying that as the ambassador of Finland I have the 

honor and privilege to receive the Top Ambassador Award of the 

Year 2017 in recognition of the diplomatic activities which with 

the theme "Finland 100 years" contributed to Finland`s country 

brand among Korean people and strengthened the ties and friendship 

between Finns and the Koreans.

Sudan Amb. Mohamad Abdelaal Haroon, Embassy of Sudan

On the auspicious Anniversary of 40 years of official establishment 

of the diplomatic relationship between the Republic of Korea and 

Republic of Sudan this year, Your Excellency contributed not a little 

to the relations between the two countries which have tremendously 

grown in all political, economic and cultural fields since accreditation 

on Oct., 2014 as Sudan top envoy.

Emphasizing that Sudan with its numerous economic potentialities 

is considered as the land of promise and opportunities as well as 

opportunities of Sudan for investment in different sector like 

agriculture, mining, oil, animal resources and infrastructure, Your 

Excellency further added a vivid and vibrant energy in the blood 

cycle of the relationship between the two friendly peoples 

manifested in the successful visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs of 

the Sudan Prof. Ibrahim Gandourto Korea in Nov. 1st 2016, as well 

as in the first ever visit of Korean cultural caravan to Sudan, 

thankfully organized by Korea – Arab Society (KAS) in Oct. 2016, 

and also in convening of the High Level Consultation Committee 

meetings in Khartoum on Apr. 5th, 2017.

Moving beyond 50 years of existence, ASEAN (the Association of 

Southeast Asian Nations) is strengthening its relations with South 

Korea for a mutually profitable future. The importance of ASEAN 

for the Republic of Korea is once again confirmed that the administration 

of Korean President Moon Jae-in sent as its first envoy to ASEAN 

Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon in June as a sign of its commitment to the dynamically growing 

region, with the two sides expected to reach $200 billion in bilateral trade by 2020.

Chairing the committee comprising 10 ASEAN ambassadors, Your 

Excellency Cambodia Amb. LONG Dimache allowed the importance 

of ASEAN to grade up with EU for the Republic of Korea, saying 

that as a post-China market and stable destination promoting mutually beneficial 

ties, ASEAN is Korea’s best choice.

throughout the year in 2017, Your Excellency contributed not a

between Korea & Finland shows Your Excellency’s unusual dedication, such as 2017 Kumho & Kuhmo Music Festival 

last Feb., Speaker of the Finnish Parliament Maria Lohela’s successful visit to Korea organized by the National Assembly & 

Embassy of Finland, enthusiastic support for the success of the 

2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic & Paralympic Games, Moomin 

Original Artwork Exhibition in Seoul for the first time including 

recent Nordic Culture Festival centering around Nordic music & 

films and last but not least participation in the 2017 Study in

Congratulatory remarks by Mr. Eero Suominen, Ambassador of Finland

On the occasion of the 2017 Korea Consumer Grand Prize 

Awarding Ceremony I would like to convey our sincere congratulations 

to all recipients of the awards in various categories of the prize, 

including the best enterprise, best brand, best product and the 

best administration to name just a few.

As the ambassador of Finland I have the honor and privilege to 

receive the Top Ambassador Award of the Year 2017 in recognition 

of the diplomatic activities which with the theme "Finland 100 years" 

contributed to Finland`s country brand among Korean people and 

strengthened the ties and friendship between Finns and the Koreans.

The celebrations of Finland 100 years, gives also an excellent 

occasion for contemplation and insight. The 100 years of Finnish 

independence gives us the opportunity to better understand the 

way our nation was formed and also to look in the future to see 

what kind Finland we can expect to become.  Our Korean friends 

have taken active part in the celebration during this year in Korea. 

I have been very happy how much our Korean friends already 

know about Finland and very proud of what all different kinds of 

high quality events Finland can offer for the celebrations.

I can assure that the mutual respect between the enterprises and 

the customers forms a good and healthy base for positive economic 

activities. This is a vision of the Korea Consumer Association, an 

affiliate organization of the NDNnews. The efforts of the Korean 

Consumer Association for the rights of the consumer, for the national 

economic development and for the promotion of social public 

benefit deserve all our support.
