"Peru has been chosen as world No. 1 gastronomy country during 5 consecutive years"
In order to introduce Peru gastronomy to the Korean public, the Embassy of Peru is
holding the 5th Peru Food Festival until July 29th, 2017 at the Terrace restaurant,
Grand Hyatt Seoul with the support of its Trade Representative.
As part of the 5th Peru Food Festival, Peru Embassy invited jounalists to the opening
day so that they can appreciate in advance Peru's peculiar food culture.
Peru Amb. Jaime Pomareda said in his welcome remarks: "Peru gastronomy which
receives excellent assessment all over the world, is being recognized globally
through diverse taste as a result of Peru indigenous history and diversity".
Among the history of Peru, immigrations of Spain, Africa, China, Japan and Italian
peoples provoked combination of diverse materials and tradition and diverse culture's
exchange has been accomplished among them, he added.
As multiracial population has been increasing, anticucho, African-style tacu-tacu, and carapulcra came in the world.
According to Peru Trade Representative, Peru has been chosen as world No. 1
gastronomy country during 5 consecutive years by World Travel Awards.
Peru Chef Ms. Maria who joined the 5th Peru Food Festival, said that she sincerely
hopes Koreans will have more interests in Peru gastronomy, adding Peru foods have
competiveness in the world. She gave a trial performance on how to cook Peru foods
in front of journalists so that participants can cook Peru gastronomy at firsthand.
