"Frence envoy Penone summarizes up 4 priorities as top agendas to cooperate"
President Moon Jaein & France President Emmanuel Macron inspired new driving force
to deepen & develop KoreaFrance 21st century comprehensive partnership through
their bilateral Summit Meeting during last G20 Hamburg, assessed French envoy
Fabien Penone.
As follow-up measures after Moon-Macron Summit Meeting in Germany, Penone summarized up 4 priority areas to
develop bilateral ties further during the 2017 France Bastille Day reception, held at
noon on July 14th located in his Hapdong residence Seoul while the reception was
packed with the Seoul Diplomatic Corps. as well as French community residents.
Touching upon the fact that Korea & France has been maintaining long friendship
over 130 years based on Freedom & Democracy, Penone named strategic dialogue
between the two countries as the first priority which will include climate change as
a representative task.
As part of such strategic dialogues, foreign ministers between the two nations are
scheduled to meet soon to talk about the denuclearization on the peninsular etc.,
Penone said on the podium before many invited guests, adding he expects Korea
will play a core role in connection with the Paris Climate Change Deal as well.
Secondly, Penone pointed out the sustainability of economic relations development
between the two countries, referring that the two nations are all innovation countries
each other. He expected brisk cooperations of SMEs (Small & Medium Enterprises
which are not inferior compared with large-sized companies forming many industrial partnerships between Korea and France
already.
Thirdly, French Amb. Penone pinpointed the importance of science field exchange as
the two Summits Moon & Macron are sympathetic about the importance of creating
jobs & expanding growth engine and agreed to cooperate in diverse areas including
new industry space. In conjunction with science field exchange, the Amb. explained
that France is a nation of engineering, science & venture start-up, adding in that sense, France provides ample opportunities for Korean students.
Last but not least, Penone named close cooperation of national defense area between
two countries as the two Summits Moon & Macron agreed to hold regularly strategic
dialouge of foreign ministers & defense minister dialogue between the two nations
respectively.
For the 2017 France Bastille Day reception, secretary general Woo Yeun-geun from the National Asembly was invited especially as a gesture which attaches importance
to parliamentary cooperation and Mr. Woo prayed for the success of Macron
administration by his return remarks.
