A briefing for international observers, representatives of foreign and national mass media
took place at the Republic press-centre on covering the elections of President of the
Republic of Uzbekistan.
Chairman of the Central election commission M.Abdusalomov noted that citizens of the
Republic of Uzbekistan demonstrate high election activity. As of 13.00, 11 million 418
thousand voters or 55,8% of 20 million 428 thousand 891 voters, included into the voters’
list, have cast their votes.
It was noted that the elections take place in full compliance with national election law and
principles of transparency and fairness, enshrined in it.
The polling stations, established at the missions of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Japan,
South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, China, Indonesia, Thailand as well as in Novosibirsk in
the Russian Federation, opened among the first.
In accordance with the election law, voting for citizens, who are not able to come to the
polling station due to health or other reasons, is organized by the precinct election
commissions at the residences of these voters.
Around 600 observers from 5 international organizations- OSCE Office for democratic
institutions and human rights, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Shanghai
Cooperation Organization, the Association of world election bodies, the Organization of
Islamic Cooperation, as well as from almost 50 countries.
Furthermore, over 37 observers from political parties, which nominated candidates for
President, representatives of mass media are observing the elections.
